Police

  • There appears to be little or no enforcement by the police to ticket drivers and cyclists who
    • Fail to stop at stop signs and lights
    • Park in no parking areas
    • Fail to signal lane changes
    • Tint their driver side windows
    • Blast music from their vehicles
    • Fail to muffle their exhaust, especially motorcycles
    • Park greater than 30 cm from the curb
  • Why do police on bicycles not follow the rules they were taught at CAN-BIKE such as
    • No riding on the sidewalk
    • No riding against traffic on a one-way street
    • Signalling stops and turns
    • Riding single file
  • Why are police parking in bicycle lanes to catch speeding cars with radar? The police car and the vehicle pulled over block the bicycle lane, endangering cyclists. Use a side street! I've seen this on Bloor Street Viaduct several times.
  • Why don't police use shields more? They can be used to help overpower citizens with knives rather than shooting them.
  • There should be a full public inquiry into the actions of the police during the G20 summit. Citizens were searched, arrested and assaulted by the police unnecessarily. What does "Serve and Protect" and "Civil Rights" mean in these circumstances.
  • The SIU needs more power to compel the police to cooperate so a complete investigation can be done. It is ridiculous for the police to say that it is being investigated by the SIU and than not cooperate.
  • Why are the police and other city vehicles immune to parking tickets when they are on breaks? City employees should set an example.
  • Why does the city pay police officers time and a half to stand around construction doing nothing 99% of the time. Train workers like crossing guards to provide traffic control
  • Police who have convicted of a criminal offence should be automatically fired and required to pay back their wages from the time they are charged.
  • When a police officer testifies in court his record as a police officer should be available to the court and the general public. It is important to know if a police officer has lied in the past or acted improperly.
